Supplements

Hi! Im trying to look for natural alternatives first before jumping into statins etc. does anyone have experience? Omega 3? Aged Garlic Extract? Beetroot? i've been reading a lot.

  1. Makes sense to explore the natural route, especially alongside diet and lifestyle changes. After you consult your doctor, and if it's okay to do so. You could also look at plant-based essential fatty acids. I came across Leaf to Life, heart-health article and their phytotherapy, and natural-essence products. which is at least relevant to that angle if you’re researching options in natural alternative.

  2. We have several articles on our community site that address the pros and cons of natural or homeopathic alternatives to statins. Here are some to check out: Is It Possible to Manage High Cholesterol Without Medication?, Managing Cholesterol When Statin Intolerance Gets in the Way, Complementary and Integrative Health. Please be sure to keep your doctor informed and part of your treatment plan if you decide to go the natural route. More needs to be learned about the effects and safety of supplements, as well as their interactions with other treatments, including mental health medicines. Also, supplements are not regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the same way other drugs are. Thanks for your question. All the best, Kathy (Team member)
