I had an open heart surgery in 2024... sternum non-union was discovered on a PET scan recently.
Thoracic surgeon is performing sternum wire removal in 2 weeks. Any thoughts on prognosis?
Two wires will be removed in the upper part of the sternum that are loose. Rest of the sternum has healed satisfactory. Opening back up my chest posed risk factors per surgeon. This sternum removal of the wires is another option.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!
