What were your emotions when diagnosed?

What were you diagnosed with? How did you feel when you received your diagnosis? Do you feel differently now?

  1. Since I'm also on dialysis I follow pretty much a renal diet with some heart healthy items too. Oatmeal is not renal friendly but is heart healthy so I only eat it once a week. I no longer cook with butter but only use olive oil. I eat a handful of nuts everyday and lots of fruit that isn't high in potassium like plums, apples, mandarin oranges, peaches and pineapple. One thing I need to add is more veggies.

    1. I have read both your comments here. It sounds like you have made some great improvements to your diet -- even if you don't add more veggies. What kind of veggies do you enjoy? John community moderator.

  2. Denial

    1. Thank you for your response here. Denial is a normal initial response to a diagnosis. How long since your diagnosis? How do you feel about it now? John. community moderator.

  3. I had no idea I had coronary artery disease until I had a stress test which resulted in a cardiac cath and then a stent placed. Shocked but I looked back at my diet and realized this was a long time coming. I've made a lot of changes to diet

    1. I'm glad to hear that you were able to make some adjustments to your diet, . What changes in particular have you found helpful? - Cody (Team Member)
