What type(s) of cardiovascular disease do you live with?

There are so many types of cardiovascular disease; what condition(s) brought you to our community?

  1. I have electrical issues Sick Sinus Syndrome and Atrial Fibrillation. I have a history of multiple bilateral pulmonary emboli. I take Xarelto.

    1. Thank you for sharing! How are you managing? Are you and your medical team happy with how Xarelto is working for you? All the best, Kathy (team member)

  2. I have coronary artery disease

    1. thank you, my pacemaker controls the slow heart rate aSPECT of my sick sinus syndrome keeping my heart rate above 60 beats per minute so that I don’t pass out. However, the pacemaker doesn’t really eliminate my a fib episodes of fast heart rate. I am told that my dual chamber pacemaker does transfer some of the burden of the AFib from the atrium to my ventricle. I am told it would help with my a fib if I would be able to take antiarrhythmic medication. However, my blood pressure is too low to tolerate that med as the anti-arrhythmic’s do lower the blood pressure .
The Xarelto has been working well and helps to prevent any further blood clots due to my a fib. Prior to being on Xarelto I did have a clot into my eye during the PE Embolism episode and cut off blood to my retina. The blood clot has left me with vision loss in one eye.

    2. , that's a lot to deal with. I'm glad you have found something that works for you. Thank you for sharing your story, which, I'm sure, will resonate with many people! All the best, Kathy (Team member)

  3. How long does it take it taken care of

    1. , thanks for your question. While you may get feedback from the community on personal experience, it’s important to note that treatments can work differently for Peripheral artery disease (PAD) may be helpful. We definitely encourage you to speak with a doctor or specialist, if you haven’t already, about your treatment-related decisions, and we commend you for reaching out to the community as well. We hope you get all the information you’re looking for! Warmly, Kathy (Team Member)

  4. I have a leaking mitral valve. It started years ago. Then about 10 years ago it got really bad and I had open heart surgery. Dr thought he could repair it but it was so bad, he replaced it. I and Miss Piggy (so named by a grandchild). Miss Piggy is leaking and her friend, the tricuspid valve, are leaking. Not quite enough for surgery. And hopefully they never will!
