I was diagnosed with Afib in 2013, before I found out I had joined a group called After Cancer Exercising. We were all asked to use the treadmill & go for five minutes on the treadmill then stop & take our heart rate, which mine read 180 beats which was alarming but went on with my day.
Days or weeks later I experienced this cough that just lingered even after treatment. So the doctor requested a CT scan to be done that was when they found my lungs were 1/3 full of fluid and figured out I also had Afib.
I experience shortness of breath if I do to much & my energy level is not great but I still plug away the best I can.Thank you for sharing your experience. Was already a patient in the hospital for breathing issues. Became suddenly very short of breath with chest feeling tight. A few min later a 7 nurses came running into my room, asking if I was ok. One of them said I hit 180 heart beats per min. First thanked them for not shocking me, lol . Multiple 12 leads later, 2 rounds of cardizem before being moved down to an intermidiate fllor. Took a couple days to get me out of that. Stress test done, then cath lab day after that. Oh what an adventure that was. lol

Does having a complete heart block and needing to be paced to live count as having A Fib?
Hi! Great question. Atrial fibrillation and heart block are two different types of irregular heart rhythms. With complete heart block, the electrical signals between the upper and lower chambers (atria and ventricles) don’t transmit properly, so a pacemaker is used to keep a steady heart rate. Atrial fibrillation, on the other hand, happens when different areas of the atria become overly excited, causing an irregular heart rhythm. AFib is actually quite common and can usually be managed with medications or other treatments. Does this help? Are these both conditions that you’re dealing with?John. community moderator. Yes I have afib I was just admitted in the hospital for my afib I now have too oxygen 24 hours now
