What do you wish you knew before your diagnosis?

If you could go back to the day of your diagnosis or earlier, what would you tell yourself? Is there anything you wish you knew prior to being diagnosed?

  1. The most common thinking of people during diagnosis:
I'm not sure what to say, but I want you to know I care".
"I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this".
    "How are you doing?"
"If you would like to talk about it, I'm here".
"Please let me know how I can help".
"I'll keep you in my thoughts".

    1. Thank you for sharing this. Do you find statements like these reassuring or annoying? Would you rather people offer specific help, such as saying, "I'll mow your grass on Tuesday, if that's OK with you," or "I can drive you to your doctor's visits, "instead of "Let me know how I can help." Many people with chronic illness prefer the specific help the most. Do you appreciate it when people say these phrases? Let us know what you think. Warmly, kathy (Team member)
